Dillon Interagency Dispatch has confirmed a wildfire near Norris Hot Springs, estimated to have burnt about 100 acres so far.

Dispatch said crews are still working on stamping out the fire that started shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. Smoke is reportedly visible from Norris.

Highway 287 was closed from milepost 56 to milepost 65 for about 40 minutes Sunday night. The Madison County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook shortly after 8 p.m. that the highway was back open.

Witnesses observing the fire say it has crested the hill and is burning toward the dump on the Ennis side of Norris.

Firefighters are working from the west side of the fire to keep it in that location in the event the wind should cause an issue.

Officials have not yet confirmed the exact location or amount of resources assigned to the fire.
