Air quality has improved nicely today for SW Montana. Most locations are reporting “Good” air quality. Take advantage of the good air as wildfire smoke will likely begin building back over our region Wednesday.
The cool wet weather pattern overnight has slowed most local wildfires down substantially but this is just a temporary pause as more thunderstorms are coming Wednesday, temperatures will begin to warm back up and a cold front later in the week will produce more wind. All of these factors will increase fire danger and existing fires will likely begin to burn more aggressively.

BOZEMAN: LOW: 45°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 77°. Cloudy and cool for the rest of today. Skies should clear overnight and a cool start to your Wednesday. Temperatures will warm up into the 70s Wednesday. There is a slight chance for an isolated late day thunderstorm Wednesday for Bozeman.
BUTTE: LOW: 43°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 78°. Cool temperatures will remain through Wednesday morning for Butte. Watch for a few isolated storms Wednesday afternoon and evening.
DILLON: LOW: 44°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 78°. Grab a light jacket if heading out this afternoon and evening as temperatures will remain well below normal. Wednesday look for warming highs but there is a slight chance for an isolated afternoon thunderstorm.
WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: 30°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 73°. Chilly weather pattern for another 12 hours for West Yellowstone, in fact, a frosty start to your Wednesday is likely. Afternoon to evening thunderstorms are likely Wednesday.
