A North Carolina teenager who was kidnapped and killed last year likely died from asphyxia, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday.

Hania Aguilar’s body was found in Robeson County in a water-filled pit approximately 4 and a half feet deep the report said. The 13-year-old was face down and naked, with a plastic folding table on her back, according to the report.

The teenager was abducted from outside of her home in Lumberton, about 95 miles south of Raleigh, on the morning of November 5. Police said the abductor forced her into a relative’s idling SUV and drove away. The eighth grader’s body was located three weeks later.

Eight days after Hania was kidnapped, Michael Ray McLellan turned himself into police in an unrelated attempted kidnapping case from October.

The FBI matched DNA from the car in Hania’s disappearance with a previous DNA sample linked to McLellan, according to authorities. He was charged with Hania’s death in December, hours before her funeral.

McLellan was denied bail on several charges in connection with Hania’s death, including first-degree murder and first-degree rape.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 2. CNN is attempting to determine if McLellan has been assigned an attorney.
