Clearwater, FL (WFTS) — Michael Drejka, the man charged with manslaughter in the death of Markeis McGlockton has been released from jail.
McGlockton, 28, was shot and killed on July 19 by Drejka, 47, outside of a convenience store in Clearwater. The shooting stemmed from a dispute over a handicap parking spot between Drejka and McGlockton’s girlfriend.
Drejka was not initially arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office under Florida’s controversial “Stand your ground law.” The case sparked nation-wide attention because McGlockton was not armed when he was fatally shot. After the case was reviewed by the State Attorney’s Office, Drejka was charged with manslaughter.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Drejka posted his $100,000 bond on Monday.
