Globe, AZ (KNXV) — Globe police are investigating a shooting at a bar overnight that left two people dead.

The shooting occurred at the Jammerz bar near Ash Street and Hackney Avenue late Sunday night. Around 10:30 p.m., police say a lone gunman walked in and opened fire.

Police tell ABC15 four people were shot during the incident and two of those people, a 22-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were killed.

The two hospitalized victims, both 22-year-old women, have life-threatening injuries. They were airlifted to Phoenix-area hospitals for treatment.

Police said the names of the victims are being withheld at the request of family members so other loved ones can be notified.

In a briefing held Monday afternoon, police said 22-year-old Sterling Hunt was taken into custody on the San Carlos Apache Nation on unrelated charges but is considered the only suspect for the shooting.

Police say this appears to be an isolated act of violence, according to information they have gathered at this time, and investigators are not aware of any ongoing threats to the community.

Gila County Sheriff’s Office posted that their officials were asked to assist with the scene, along with their Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force.

Police are asking anyone who may have been at the bar or knows something about what happened inside around the time of the shooting to call the Globe Police Department and speak with Detective Steve Williams.
