BOZEMAN – Spring storms mean more use of snow plows for the city of Bozeman, but are these storms putting the budget in danger?
According to Street Superintendent John Vandelinder, the whole operations budget is about $2 million. The budget year ends on June 30. Despite the spring snow storms, Vandelinder says they are doing okay on budget.
“So, we’re dipping into our supplies budget. It might be a little less asphalt or when we do it. But we have plenty to do and we’ll be cleaning up for a long time and we have been patching up all winter and getting ready for our big asphalt projects, but I think we’ll be fine,” said Vandelinder.
The city hopes that they will be able to begin sweeping the roads soon and also have to deal with some leaf clean up that they didn’t get to with this year’s early winter.
Spring cleanup for the city begins on April 23.
