Fun in the summer sun: Bozeman Parks and Rec offers camps for kids

Posted

BOZEMAN – Summer officially began for kids in Gallatin County on Thursday.

“Today there’s a buzz in the air in Bozeman Montana. The kids are so excited, the parents are so excited,” City of Bozeman Assistant Recreation Manager Holly Crane said.

The Parks and Rec program is more than ready to start their summer camps Monday, June 11th. Each week of camp will be themed differently – and there will be plenty to do.

“We have swimming, we have outdoor adventure camps, we have youth races, we have youth sports camps, we have preschool camps, we have arts and crafts and so much more,” Crane said.

Every camp being offered embraces the outdoors and exploring the city of Bozeman.

“We like to make sure they get to see everything Bozeman has to offer,” Recreation Leader Paige Robison said. “We take them to the creeks, we take them to the rivers and streams, we take them all over the trails. A lot of kids don’t know about the streams and how they work so we try to teach them about that and all the animals that live here, the trees the flowers, and to just make sure they know about the town that they live in.”

“The kids not only learn new skills but they can hone the skills they already have and they love being outside and they love exploring and we have that opportunity in Bozeman Parks and Recs Camps,” she said.
