Montana experiencing blood shortage according to American Red Cross

Posted

BOZEMAN –  Blood supply levels are at emergency levels according to the American Red Cross of Montana. Thomas Hensley with The American Red Cross says the Bozeman blood bank supplies more than 20 hospitals with the life-saving resource.

“We strive to maintain a 5-day blood inventory and currently our demand for blood is going in faster than what we’re able to collect,” said Hensley.

Hensley says the total time to donate takes about an hour which includes a health questionnaire, brief physical, and the blood draw. One donation, a single pint of blood, can be used to help 3 people.

To combat the shortage, the American Red Cross has set up more than 11 mobile donation sites for the month of August. Below are the ones and locations where a person can donate.
