BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory Board plans to once again recognize buildings and people around the city for their efforts in preservation.

This year, the board will award five different categories of Historic Preservation Awards, all commemorating others for their hard work in preserving the community.

Out of these awards, friends of the Bogert Pool will be awarded for Continued Maintenance over the years.

Also, the Emerson Cultural Center will be recognized for Preservation Stewardship for their work with the Emerson Lawn.

Longtime Bozeman resident Jane Klockman, a 92-year-old woman who has been pushing the city’s preservation efforts for five decades, will also be honored.

Board members said this tradition is an important part to remember why these efforts are so important.

“Not only is it important to recognize what is being done now, but also to encourage this effort, going forward,” said Eric Karshner, volunteer board member for the Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory Board. “We can’t just stop here. We want people to embrace our history and embrace the buildings that we have that have served us for a long time.”

The board will be hosting the awards ceremony at 7 pm on Saturday, May 18 at the Hotel Baxter.
