BOZEMAN, Mont. – Gallatin County has seen a record number of absentee voters ahead of the November 6 election.
The Gallatin county clerk’s office has received 14,000 ballots, which is about 25 percent of all of the ballots sent out. Both parties have pushed people to vote early via absentee ballot.
Gallatin County Clerk and Recorder Charlotte Mills says that some people don’t realize they’re on an absentee ballot due to a law change.
“Now they’ve changed Montana state law, where if you sign up for an absentee ballot, you’re always on the list until you opt off, so more people are now getting absentee ballots. We’ve had a lot of confusion.” Mills said
The amount of postage needed to send in your absentee ballot is 71 cents.
