Local health officials are reporting a second COVID-19-related death in Missoula County.
"The Missoula City-County Health Department is deeply saddened to announce that a second Missoula County resident passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection. The health department and local government leadership send our deepest condolences to their family, friends and loved ones at this terrible time," a statement reads.
The local health department is urging people to "continue being vigilant and supportive of each other by practicing good handwashing hygiene, limiting their social circles, maintaining six feet between others, wearing a cloth face covering in public and staying home when they have any symptoms of illness."
The victim is reported to be middle-aged or older. No further information is being released due to privacy concerns.
Friday's announcement brings the number of people in Montana who have passed away due to COVID-19 to 82.
The Missoula City-County Health Department reported a dozen new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday. There are currently 76 active cases in the county and 287 recoveries have been reported.
