COLUMBIA FALLS – We have learned more information about a threat that forced the lockdown of a Flathead Valley school on Tuesday afternoon.

Ruder Elementary School in Columbia Falls was placed into lockdown at around 2:15 p.m. due to a social media threat on SnapChat.

Columbia Falls Police confirmed with MTN News that a SnapChat was discovered of a young man holding a gun.

The message also stated to meet in the school parking lot to settle a disagreement.

Columbia Falls Schools Superintendent Steve Bradshaw has confirmed that the person involved in the threat is a former student who transferred to the school before dropping out.

The person involved is a minor so the case has been turned over to Flathead County Youth Court.

We will have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
