THOMPSON FALLS – A months-long investigation has led to an arrest in a May murder case in Northwest Montana.

Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel says that Danielle Jeanette Wood is facing a deliberate homicide charge in connection with the May 2018 death of Matthew George Lafriniere.

Wood was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and is being held on $1 million bond in the Sanders County jail.

Sheriff Rummel is also thanking the Montana Department of Justice for their help in the investigation.

Sheriff Tom Rummel had said in a social media post on August 8, 2018, that “a lot of evidence has been collected and submitted to the Montana Crime Lab in Missoula and it takes time to process this evidence.”

We’ll have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
