BOZEMAN, Mont. – Residents of Gallatin County have been reporting a Verizon Wireless scam.

Callers have been posing as the Verizon Wireless Collections Department and transferring victims to another caller that is supposed to be with the Verizon fraud department. Scammers are looking for your personal account information. The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office urges people to hang up immediately if a call like this is received.

“Hang up with that caller, contact your phone company or whoever has your account, and ask them if there are any issues with your account rather than taking it from someone contacting you,” Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department Cpt. Don Peterson said.

The Sheriff’s office can log these scams, issue fraud alerts, and help you paperwork work. However, these scams can be hard to track since many are out of state.
