Two young women in Springfield, Ill., are mourning the loss of their mother and stepfather.

William and Lois Cobb were two of the four people killed in Mandan, N.D. The bodies were discovered Monday morning at a business.

Now, the couple’s children are left to pick up the pieces.

“They were true soul mates and as bad as it sounds, I’m happy they were able to go out together,” said daughter Briann Miller.

William and Lois Cobb had just purchased their dream home.

But their lives along with two others were cut short.

With tears in their eyes, sisters Amy Cobb and Briann Miller remember the call no child wants to ever receive.

“I called my mom back-to-back. I called my stepdad back-to-back. I texted them multiple times and after what seemed like a lifetime of not receiving anything from them, I finally called her and from there it was just an investigation for the both of us to figure anything out.”

The deaths of William and Lois leave behind four children, three grandchildren and their beloved dog, Presley.

It’s an empty void that will remain in their children’s lives forever.

“Just the thought of never seeing him again. I’m never going to have a dad walk me down the aisle when I get married, or meet my kids when I have kids,” said Amy.

“The hardest part for me, my mom is my best friend for one,” said Briann. “I called her every single day. Talked to her every single day at least. I have three children.”

Now Briann and Amy are searching for answers and justice for their parents.

“Four innocent people went to work one day and somebody, for whatever reason, just decided to take all their lives and it’s a hard thing to process, especially when it’s the both of them,” Briann said

The sisters are now trying to put their lives back together despite the heartbreaking circumstance.

“I think it’s probably brought us closer but it’s also all us kids are what is going to keep our parent’s memories alive,” Amy said.

Authorities have not revealed how William and Louis Cobb died.

They also have not identified a suspect or motive.
