BELGRADE — A Belgrade man found himself a target for a group of thieves who, according to investigators, are stealing things right off of many people's front porches.
And they were all caught on camera.
William Lamdin says he had just set his MITER saw out to start some work last week and had gone back inside when his surveillance camera caught two men checking it out.
They didn’t stop there.
Moments later, one of them goes up to the porch, unplugs the saw and carries it off, loading it into the back of a Dodge pickup.
William says other neighbors reported similar thefts that morning.
Within 48 hours, Gallatin County Sheriff’s deputies, Bozeman City Police detectives and friends started to help and did, tracking down the saw with a matching serial number in a Helena pawn shop.
“You know, I never had anything go missing," Lamdin told MTN News. "I did not have a house key for a year and a half. I never locked my door. I do now but that’s kind of the neighborhood and that’s what I’ve gotten accustomed to and I certainly, going forward, I’m going to be more cautious.”
As of now, the investigation is ongoing and there haven’t been any arrests yet.
