BOZEMAN — Amanda Allen was arrested in Clarkston on Monday after allegedly shooting at and threatening her daughter’s boyfriend.
Allen, 39 years old, appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court on Tuesday on a charge of assault with a weapon.
According to court documents, at around 9:15 a.m. on Monday, A Gallatin County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a disturbance with a weapon report on Old Coach Road in Clarkston.
The deputy met the victim and his girlfriend, who live in an RV on Allen’s property, in Logan after they reportedly fled the Clarkston residence to find a safe location.
The man said the incident started after he had been invited into Allen’s home to make his girlfriend breakfast. He told the reporting deputy that Allen started to become upset as he was making breakfast, then began yelling at him and her daughter to get out of the house.
The victim said Allen shot at him as his back was turned and told him “the next bullet was going into my back.” He said he believed Allen was going to shoot him after firing the first round.
The deputy interviewed Allen’s daughter, who said she observed her mother fire a pistol and threaten the victim. The deputy contacted Allen and met her at the Clarkston residence.
Allen allegedly admitted to shooting a round from a .243 caliber rifle that was in the home. Court documents say Allen waived her Miranda warning and told the deputy that the victim did not have permission to enter her home. She reportedly told him to leave and fired the round, but she denied threatening him verbally.
The deputy said he was unable to find a shell casing that matched the rifle but did find a 9mm casing near the front door of the residence. Allen allegedly insisted she fired the rifle and not her 9mm pistol, which she said was at her mother’s house.
The deputy arrested Allen for assault with a weapon and transported her to the Gallatin County Detention Center.
In court on Tuesday, Allen’s bail was set at $15,000. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 15.
