GOAT HAUNT – Federal officials have announced that the Boundary wildfire burning in Glacier National Park near the Canadian border is prompting the closure of a border crossing.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on Monday morning that the seasonal Port of Goat Haunt in Montana will be closed indefinitely due to the blaze.
Customs officials note that the town of Waterton in Canada is under a voluntary evacuation alert due to wildfires and the ferry operator has advised CBP that ferry service to Goat Haunt was discontinued on August 25th.
Additionally, the National Park Service announced all trails originating from Goat Haunt are closed. It is unknown when Goat Haunt may re-open.
Goat Haunt is a remote port, located at the south end of Waterton Lake, which can only be accessed by ferry boat from Waterton, Alberta, Canada, or by trail from the North Fork area of Glacier National Park in Montana.
