HOT SPRINGS – It’s been cooler, but fire season in Montana isn’t over, as evidenced by a new fire start near Hot Springs on Thursday.
The CSKT Division of Fire reports the fire start is in the Rattlesnake area, about 10 miles northeast of Hot Springs, has already burned 2000 acres in grass and timber.
Crews are battling the blaze with three helicopters and two air tankers, seven smaller single “SEAT” tankers and 110-firefighters and equipment on the ground.
There’s no word of any evacuations at this point. Authorities aren’t yet sure what started this fire.
CSKT Fire just got done spending several weeks bringing the 2,000 acre Garden Creek Fire near Hot Springs under control.
