MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, Wyo.- Hikers spotted Yellowstone National Park’s first wildfire Wednesday on the Sevenmile Hole trail.

The lightning-ignited fire only covers one-tenth of an acre, and it’s three miles east of Canyon Village near the Yellowstone River.

It poses no threat to the public, park officials said.

The fire is smoldering on a steep rocky slope and is inaccessible by foot, so it will be monitored by firefighters from the canyon rim.

Fire danger is currently moderate at the park with no restrictions. Click here to find out about current fire activity at the park.
