The Bradley Creek Fire has now burnt 1,700 acres since it was first spotted Sunday afternoon.
The fire was reported at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Bradley Creek drainage outside Norris between highways 287 and 84, according to a press release from the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC).
The release said the fire is 20 percent contained with 70 total personnel assigned, including two crews (one Type 1 and one Type 2), engines, water tenders, helicopters, and heavy equipment.
DNRC said it, along with Madison County, US Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management were all involved in initial attack efforts.
A wind shift on Sunday pushed the fire to the west and south, challenging firefighters' efforts. Sections of highway were briefly closed due to smoke conditions.
"Unfortunately, livestock loss has occurred due to the fast-moving fire," DNRC said in the release. "A high-voltage powerline is in the area, it has sustained damage and remains threatened by potential fire spread."
There are currently no closures or evacuations in place, but officials ask the public to use caution when driving near the fire perimeter and fire apparatus on Highway 287.
