Multiple agencies were fighting a wildfire near Norris that started early Sunday afternoon.

Officials say the fire began near Bradley Creek, and the cause of origin is unknown.

It was estimated to be just over 1,000 acres in size Sunday evening.

Madison County Disaster Emergency Services says the fire was close to being contained earlier Sunday afternoon, but the wind continued to pick up and change directions on fire fighters.

At one point, US Highway 287 between Norris and Ennis was closed.

The road was reopened as firefighters from multiple agencies including Madison Valley Rural Fire, Harrison Volunteer Fire Department, the National Forest Service and the DNRC worked the scene.

No structures were threatened as of Sunday, and no evacuations had been ordered. We will continue to bring you updates as we get more information.
