A Type 2 Incident Management Team has taken control of the wildfire burning in southwest Montana on Thursday.
The Bear Creek Fire started on Tuesday and quickly grew to over 4,000 acres.
The blaze is burning in the Lemhi Pass area of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and sits at 4,200 acres and 0% contained.
Several resources have been assigned including six helicopters and two airplanes.
The fire is burning in timber and heavy fuels and crews spent today scouting and prepping for burn out operations.
Reports state the blaze was sparked by lightning.
