BUTTE — Montana Tech began as the Montana State School of Mines on September 11, 1900.
As Vice Chancellor of Advancement and University Relations Joe McClafferty says the 39 students enrolled that day represented the hard-working population of Butte, the largest city in the state at that time.
McClafferty and the school’s Director of Public Relations Amanda Badovinac talked with MTN’s Chet Layman live on Montana This Morning.
From those early roots, Montana Tech has grown to be a nationally recognized institution, known for its quality education and high post-graduation job placement. The exceptional job placement rate of graduates, a successful alumni, combined with the affordable cost of attendance in a highly personalized environment, attest to both quality, value, and overall return on investment. Offering practical, hands-on learning, Montana Tech provides the opportunity for students looking to be difference-makers, leaders, innovators, healers and problem-solvers. Badovinac says Tech just completed its annual on-line fundraiser effort called Day One. Montana Tech kicked off our third annual 48-hour digital giving event on our Day One -- the 11th of September.
Day One celebrates Montana Tech’s history and growth with the goal to bring together our campus and alumni community, to share what is happening on our campuses, and raise funds for our departments and programs in focused areas. Last year’s event raised over $240,000 with 547 total donors. This year’s event boasts 25 projects for a variety of areas for both Montana Tech and Highlands College.
