Shortly after Linda Brambley lost her job, she decided to use her time of financial hardship to help others with theirs - making free masks for those who can’t afford their own.

Brambley uses donated fabric and her giving spirit to keep her community safe and stylish - sewing 1,575 masks in four months.

The mask designer has even gone so far as to ship masks to families in states with mask shortages.

“I sent them to about nine states...Hawaii all the way down to New York. So they’ve kind of gone all over the place,” Brambley said.

When asked why she chose to make her masks a past-time and not for profit, she said she would rather be part of the solution during this problematic time.

"I’ve been sewing since I was probably eight years old, so this was an easy thing for me,” Brambley said, “A lot of people aren't working right now and they really can't afford to be going out and buying masks so, you know, why not help out? Be the solution.”

Rainy Allen, a friend of Brambley, said she knows of other mask makers who charge but none who give masks away like Brambley.

“She's like, you know, people keep telling me to charge for that but Linda doesn't do that. She's like - you need it, here it is...she’s all-around just a wonderful person, just very generous and caring,” Allen said.

Brambley is currently making masks by hand as she doesn't have a working sewing machine. If you'd like to receive one of her masks or help her purchase a sewing machine, you can click here to visit her Facebook page. You also give her fabric if you would like a specific pattern.
