Yellowstone National Park says the number of people who visited this August dropped eleven percent compared to a year ago.
So far for the year, park visitation is down three percent. But the park has still registered more than 3.1 million visits for the season to date. That’s about 100,000 less than at this same time last year.
Park officials say in spite of the slight drop, the park is still very busy and that people who want to visit need to plan ahead. It’s especially important to check and reserve ahead of time for hotel rooms or camping in and around the park.
Since the fall season is now underway, officials say be sure to check the park website for weather and road conditions before you visit because both can change quickly at this time of year.
