PARK COUNTY, Mont. – A Saturday night ATV crash has left one dead and one injured near Clyde Park, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

MHP reports that around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a 20-year-old woman from Modesto, California was driving a Polaris Ranger 500 utility vehicle westbound on Upper Cottonwood Road near Briggs Lane in Park County.

The passenger was a 23-year-old man from Great Falls. Neither was wearing a seatbelt or helmets, and roads were bare and dry, according to MHP.

The woman was driving too fast for conditions when attempting to navigate a tight left curve. MHP says she lost control, over-corrected, and rolled once, the vehicle coming to rest on its side. Both the driver and the passenger were ejected.

The male passenger died on scene from injuries sustained in the crash, while the woman was transported for treatment.

The names of those involved have not been released. We will report new information as we receive it.
