BOZEMAN, Mont. – A flag raising event was held at the former National Guard Armory building in downtown Bozeman as a symbol of thanks to all those making the building’s future as a boutique hotel possible.
The boutique hotel is expected to be completed in 2020 and at this time is named after Etha Story, whose family donated the land when the building was originally constructed.
At the flag raising ceremony Wednesday, Corey Lawrence, CEO of Off the Beaten Path and investor in the project, gave a definition of the name Etha.
“Happy and smart, full of life, loves people, is friendly and a true and trustworthy friend,” said Lawrence. “We thought, well that’s really what we want this property to be,” Lawrence said.
Lawrence says in addition to the 120 rooms at the hotel there will be a rooftop pool for gathering and space indoors for live music. He says the goal is to keep the building a community space since that was one of the primary purposes back when it was an armory.
