BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana Steel Industries Incorporated celebrated the 10th annual Steel Day by inviting the community their workshop for presentations and demonstrations.
MSI said the metal alloy Steel is highly desired not only for its strength but appearance, as it’s used commonly for architectural work.
Alana Hockstein, a corrosion engineer with the American Galvanizers Association, came up from Colorado to share the benefits of galvanizing steel.
“Some people like that metallic look or industrial look or they want to mask that look but they want that long-term protection of hot dip galvanizing,” said Hochstein.
“It’s a day that we can focus on steel,” said Randy Chamberlain, CEO of MSI. “Sometimes I feel like we’re kind of the best-kept secret in Bozeman.”
Chamberlain said even with the current tariff increases business is booming. He says most steel they use comes from American made mills and doesn’t stay in the yard much longer than a few weeks because it’s going out to projects quickly.
“it’s nice to be using American steel,” said Chamberlain. “Steel, it’s in my opinion, the best way to build.”
