BOZEMAN, Mont. – October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it’s also a time that doctors stress the importance of women getting an annual mammogram.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer that women are diagnosed with. One in eight women are diagnosed with this form of cancer in the United States every year, which in turn results in a woman being diagnosed every two minutes.
“We do recommend that women regardless of your family history start mammography at age 40 and get an annual mammogram. The mammograms have shown since 1990 to be impactful for cancer survival reducing breast cancer deaths by 30 percent,” said Cindy Carter, clinical breast specialist at Bozeman Health.
Many events are happening in the community this month to bring awareness to the disease and fundraise to find a cure.
MSU is currently selling t-shirts for their Pack the Place Pink event for everyone to wear pink at the Bobcat’s home football game on November 3.
