BOZEMAN, Mont.- With the cold weather creeping in it’s about to be that time of year again, flu season.
Infectious Disease Specialist at Bozeman Health Mark D. Winton said it’s extremely important for everyone to get their flu shot to prevent influenza. Even though many believe the flu shot has the virus in it, he says the actual shot does not.
“It’s important to get it not only for yourself but for other people more at risk. We consider ourselves to be young and healthy but we have grandparents and kids and grandkids and they are at a much higher risk of getting influenza and having severe complications,” Winton said.
You can get flu shot from your primary care provider or a local pharmacy. Children under 12 must get it from their pediatrician. Bozeman Health Healthcare Connections Bus also has free flu shots and the full schedule is here.
