BELGRADE, Mont. – The construction on Jackrabbit Lane is just about complete, and all five lanes of the road are now open.

The construction project that began in September 2017 increases the road from two to five lanes, along with new traffic signals and a paved path for pedestrians and bicycles.

Kevin Emmer, owner of Emmer Brothers Cedar, said the construction hasn’t impacted business for him even though it’s located right in the middle of where the construction was taking place.

“We haven’t seen a slowdown; we’re as busy as our busiest year. It’s been great for us, we have enjoyed having the traffic going slower. It’s easier for us with trucks going in and out,” Emmer said.

Even though all of lanes on Jackrabbit lane are now open for drivers, the speed limit is 35 mph on the section of the road where construction was being done.

Emmer is happy with the improvements of this busy road that he travels on almost every day.

“It was a dangerous entrance and a narrow approach, and it was two lanes and everyone was speeding up as the roach constricted down to two lanes from five. Having it slow and spaced out, it’s much easier for us to turn left and go to Four Corners,” Emmer said.

He continued, “We’ll have a turn lane to merge in and out of and turn in. People will be able to get around we won’t have to feel like we’re in danger of our lives trying to turn in on icy days.”
