BELGRADE, Mont. – On Thursday at the Class A State Volleyball Tournament, several Belgrade High School cheerleaders received an airdrop message saying “Don’t come to school tomorrow”.
Principal Paul Lamb sent out a message to all high school parents letting them know police would be in the halls throughout the Friday school day and would be patrolling the building.
“We take everything serious in this day and age,” said Lamb. “Any time there is any kind of an accusation made, we investigate as much as we can and try to hold any student or any individual accountable.”
The school district did say that Belgrade Police investigated the situation and located a suspect but would not release the suspect’s name.
“I’m very concerned for several reasons, one of which is obviously I don’t want my children to harmed in any way,” said parent Traci Glushko. “But also I am concerned that because there have been so many that parents and students might be a little complacent about taking them seriously.”
Lamb said the school district is doing everything in their power to make sure students, staff and teachers are all safe.
“I feel Belgrade High School is a very safe place and I think we are taking the precautions that we need to take to keep the students safe. My daughter is a student here, and I would continue to send her to school every single day that we have school here,” Lamb said.
Lamb said according to Belgrade Police, the messages were not related to an earlier incident in the beginning of the week, which is still under investigation.
KBZK reached out to the Belgrade Police Department for comment but did not receive a response.
