Samaritan’s Purse is collecting shoebox donations through November 19 for its annual Operation Christmas Child program.

Samaritan’s Purse is asking that people donate gifts such as hygiene items, school supplies, and toys that can fit in a shoebox. Collection week began on Monday and the organization has already received 1,500 shoeboxes and hope to get 6,000 by the end of next Monday.

Area coordinator for south-central Montana George Alberda says it’s not the donations themselves but the positive impact they have on kids all over the world.

“Samaritan’s Purse will distribute those gifts to needy children around the world, children who are victims of famine, disease, warfare, and for a lot of these children it’ll be the first gift they’ve ever received and they cannot believe that somebody in a faraway country cared enough to send them a gift,” Alberda said.

Grace Bible Church in Bozeman will be collecting donations from now through Monday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To find the drop-off location nearest to you, click here.
