BOZEMAN, Mont. – The group Samaritan’s Purse is collecting shoebox donations through November 19th for its annual Operation Christmas Child Program.

Volunteers are asking for hygiene items, school supplies, and toys that can fit in a shoebox.

Collection week began on Monday and the organization has already received 1,500 shoeboxes. It hopes to get 6,000 by the end of next Monday, Nov. 19.

“Samaritan’s Purse will distribute those gifts to needy children around the world, children who are victims of famine disease warfare,” said George Alberda. “For a lot of these children it’ll be the first gift they’ve ever received and they cannot believe that somebody in a faraway country cared enough to send them a gift.”

Grace Bible Church will be collecting donations and there are six other drop-off locations across Southwest Montana.
