BOZEMAN, Mont. – Bozeman police will have patrols on high alert for intoxicated drivers on the night before Thanksgiving to ensure the roadways stay safe.

The night before Thanksgiving is a known drinking holiday and one of the busiest bar nights of the year, according to police.

Blackout Wednesday, or Drinksgiving, brings people to their favorite hometown bar to drink, but that also means there is a chance for impaired drivers on the road.

Bozeman Police will not have extra officers on patrol but will have officers stationed in and around downtown to look out for drunk drivers.

“There is a real uptick in the amount of drinking that is going on in the downtown area,” said Captain Dana McNeil. “So we will have our patrols on the outside areas. So we see as the traffic is exiting the bars and stuff like that, we will look indicators of impaired driving and pull people over and make sure people are safe to drive.”
