BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bozeman School Board has two policies to adopt on their agenda for their meeting on Monday, Dec. 10.

These policies have to do with sexual intimidation, misconduct and harassment. There haven’t been any problems within the district to make this discussion happen. The district’s insurance company is seeking for the board to make these policies concrete.

One of the policies is new and ensures that all of the staff and administrators are not allowed to aid someone who has been accused of sexual misconduct in finding another job. This new policy is a requirement of federal law.

“Just from a practical standpoint, I don’t think it’s going to be a huge change for us. These are things we have been doing all along and processes we have been following. I just think it gets that documentation in line,” Bozeman School District Director of Business Services Mike Waterman said.

“If there were to ever be an issue—and hopefully it won’t be an issue going forward—and this will just be some rules on the books. But if something does come up, it will just give us some rules to fall back on and say this is our policy and how it’s intended to happen,” said Waterman.

This is a consent agenda item that was discussed by the board a few weeks ago and most likely won’t raise too much discussion at their meeting.
