BOZEMAN, Mont.- The Bozeman School District has decided to add another Deputy Superintendent to its payroll to adjust for the growth the school system has seen.

Superintendent Rob Watson said in preparation for the town’s second high school, which will be opened in 2020 and the addition of two elementary schools within the near future the responsibilities needed to be split.

Currently, the Deputy Superintendent cover grades K-12th but once the second position is added in July, one will cover K-5th and the other will cover 6-12th.

“So it was really an issue of splitting the supervision of those schools amount two people,” said Watson. “The way that we are gonna make that work is an administrator at the central office. We are eliminating the curriculum director at Central Office to create the new one.”

Watson said by eliminating the one position and adding the other it will cost the schools about $30,000 a year. The Curriculum Director position holder plans to retire at the end of the year.
