LIVINGSTON, Mont. – Strong winds returned to Livingston and other parts of the state on Friday.

The National Weather Service Office in Billings says that there’s a good chance that Livingston will see winds gusts over 50 MPH this weekend. These crosswinds can be dangerous for drivers. Montana Highway Patrol says it’s important to scan for signs and wind in wind prone areas and to not overcorrect if the wind blows your vehicle around.

“Obviously if it’s a really strong gust and it pushes you into the other lane, just try and control it so you don’t go off the road and again, don’t over correct if it pushes you hard left, don’t jerk the wheel to the right, because all you’re going to do is turn your vehicle sideways,” Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. McLaughlin said.

MHP also suggests looking for warning signs like wind socks on the side of the road.
