BOZEMAN, Mont. – One woman is dead and a man is hospitalized at Bozeman Health due to a crash near the 7th Street exit on I-90W late Friday night.

The Montana Highway Patrol said around 11 p.m. on Friday, a 2006 Ford 250 was merging onto I-90 from the N. 7th on-ramp when the vehicle started to fishtail.

Police say the driver overcorrected and went off the right side of the road, rolled, and then hit a power pole on the passenger side of the car.

The 47-year-old male driver from Sheridan, Montana was injured and transported to Bozeman Health, and the 36-year-old female passenger from Belgrade died at the scene. The driver was wearing his seatbelt; the woman was not.

MHP said alcohol, speed, and icy road conditions are all considered factors in the accident. The crash is still under investigation. This is a developing story and additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

MHP said this is the 13th highway fatality of 2019.
