BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bozeman School Board unanimously approved Option D for the high school boundaries.

The process of coming up with a definitive line for the attendance boundary of Bozeman’s second high school, set to open Fall of 2020, has been a lengthy process. The district has been working since spring of 2018 to come up with a final decision and now they have an answer, option D.

Option D, also known as the diagonal option, creates a boundary line that zigzags diagonally in the center of the city with most of the northwest part of the city’s students staying at the current high school and the southwest portion of town attending the second high school.

The district predicts around 1,400 students will attend Bozeman High School and around 1,000 will attend the second high school.

The board will reevaluate the boundary in 5-8 years. The next decision the district must make is a name and mascot for the new high school.
