BOZEMAN, Mont. – Crews from area fire departments are responding to a large fire at a 4-story apartment complex that was under construction on Babcock near 7th Ave.

The fire was first reported about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, which flames so intense that firefighters were not able to enter the building. The crews are reportedly fighting a purely defensive action from outside.

Two large snorkels on tall ladder trucks tower over the fire shooting water on the structure.

Flames could still be seen on the structure 4 hours after the fire was first reported and the building has partially collapsed.

Power is out for about 250 downtown residents and three streets are closed for several blocks.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
