BOZEMAN, Mont. – Visitor restrictions are in effect at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital due to the flu.

According to a press release, the restrictions started at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22 for inpatient units at the hospital.

People with symptoms of upper respiratory infection (cough, runny or stuffed nose) or fever, along with children under the age of 12 are asked to refrain from visiting patients that are hospitalized.

The restrictions do not affect the emergency department or registration.

Officials said the restrictions are put in place when the flu transmission is consistently high in the community. The flu is highly contagious and can be a major cause of acute bronchitis and pneumonia.

The hospital will notify the public when visitor restrictions are lifted.
