Some runners might have cold feet when it comes to running this year’s Run to the Pub on March 16.
Registration numbers are down from where they typically are by this date for both the 10K and half marathon. Race officials have extended the date of normal pricing for the 2019 race through March 8.
Run to The Pub was voted the second-best half marathon in the U.S. by Runner’s World magazine. Race director Tyler Wilkinson says that the city and community are on board with keeping the roads clear and runners safe the morning of the race.
“We have some other volunteers that are extremely generous with their time and will be waking up at 1 am. They’ll be out there salting the course and ring to hit any of the icy spots that we see with some salt to help the runners out with a little bit of traction out there.” Wilkinson said.
The only thing that would cancel the race is if the buses that are used to transport the runners to the starting line wasn’t running.
