BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Bozeman School District gave an update to the community on Wednesday about what’s going on within the district.
Between the construction and planning for high school two, renovations to the current high school, the stadium project, and countless other projects, the school district has its hands full.
Deputy Superintendent Steve Johnson said the construction of the second high school is on time and under budget. He says the district is accomplishing everything it promised with the construction and even more.
The stadium project on the campus of Bozeman High is expected to be complete this fall and will be used primarily for football and soccer.
It does include a new locker room building that is in a centralized location for various sports.
In the renovation process of Bozeman High School, the section extending to Main Street will be demolished and a brand new 750-seat auditorium plus a two-story classroom complex will be added.
The district is in the process of putting in a roundabout near Ruth Thibeault Way, which is going to be one of the major entrances to the high school once the renovation is complete.
Outside of construction projects, the school election is on May 7 and those ballots will be mailed to Bozeman residents.
One item included on it will be The Elementary Building Reserve levy which expires this year and needs voter approval.
The levy supports future projects to update buildings, classrooms and needed upgrades.
Going inside the classrooms, Superintendent Rob Watson spoke about the district’s reading initiatives that have been one of the main focuses this year.
The district has put in place various reading programs for elementary students to improve their reading skills.
