More than 10K weigh in on new high school name: Poll points to “Gallatin High School”

BOZEMAN, Mont.- The Bozeman School District has released the results of its poll to name the second high school.

The online survey polled staff, community members and students. More than 10,000 people participated.

Gallatin High School was most popular among all three groups of voters, ranking in 43 percent of the votes from the community members.

The district’s original choice of “West Slope High” received the least amount of votes from both the community and students.

The school board will still make the final naming decision on Monday.

Staff (N=318, representative random sample)

  • Westslope 12%

Community (N=9347, not a representative sample)

  • Gallatin 43%
  • Spanish Peaks 19%
  • West 17%
  • Storm Castle 14%
  • Westslope 8%

Students (N= 485, representative random sample of students grade 5-9, margin of error +/- 5%)

  • Gallatin 30%
  • Storm Castle 26%
  • Spanish Peaks 22%
  • West 13%
  • Westslope 9%
