Bozeman Yellowstone International airport is expanding in ways you might not imagine,

The airport has seen record-shattering numbers with commercial and airline travel this year, but airport officials are also working on projects for people who fly privately.

We’ve been working on and right now we’ve got under proposed or in construction 9 additional hangars coming this summer.” Airport Director Brian Sprenger said.

This land is leased out by the airport authority and funded privately by organizations up the canyon.

“Yellowstone Club and Big Sky, but we also have a lot of development, developed around the business and individuals in the valley that have means for aircraft or fly for their business or fly individually throughout the country,” Sprenger said.

Many people are aware of how the commercial airlines over the last several years but what a lot of people don’t realize is the expansions in the general and business aviation part of the airport which has really occurred in the last year.

Once we added our additional runway and we were able to separate the slow moving aircraft and the fast moving aircraft to the two runways. We’ve seen a significant increase in small aircraft traffic especially related to the flight schools here at the airport,” Sprenger added.

Sprenger says that some of the hangars will be completed this year, while the others will be under construction through early 2020.
