BOZEMAN, Mont. – Soon, it will be easier for Bozeman hikers to access the M and Drinking Horse trails

A planned paved trail will connect the city of Bozeman to the two popular trails, a project that has been 6 years in the making.

“In 2013, we were successful in the grant for the Federal Lands Access Program or FLAP, and the city commission approved the matching funds out of the 2012 bond project bonds,”  Bozeman Director of Parks and Recreation, Mitch Overton said.

The new trail will be 2.2 miles long and be connected to places like the East Gallatin Recreational Area and the new Story Mill Community Park.

The Path starts out on the southern side of Bridger Canyon Drive, so the intersection Story Mill Road and Bridger Drive and runs along that southern side up through the headlands subdivision then crosses at Grade at Creekwood road then runs on the north side all the way up to the M,” Overton added.

“This is a significant safety improvement to allow folks to more safely get to the M without a Car, so walking running pushing the stroller riding a bike,” Overton added.

This project is expected to be completed by September 22, 2019.
