Gallatin County commissioners are close to pinning down a price for updating the Law and Justice Center.
Commissioners say they are three meetings away from having everything they need to hopefully make it happen. This starts next Thursday morning.
Commissioners will announce the project cost at that meeting at the Gallatin County Building in Bozeman, along with how much they will be asking voters to pitch in if the vote goes that way this November.
Commissioner Joe Skinner says the board will also be opening the door to the public to weigh in on the issue at the second meeting.
The hope: get a static number to move the center to keep up with the times.
“We gotta fix this now because every time we come out, it’s way more,” Skinner says. “I mean, the price just keeps escalating and I think that we’ll see next Thursday that, yeah, we didn’t vote for this in 2016 and now it costs way more.”
The plan to replace the current Law and Justice Center has been in the works for a while due to outdated safety standards and a lack of space to carry out operations.
