BOZEMAN — Vaccine distribution is ramping up in Gallatin County.
Today, Bozeman Health vaccinated additional first responders and emergency medical personnel who are not employed by the hospital.
The hospital was able to allocate 250 of the COVID-19 vaccines they already received to the additional people.
Bozeman Health officials tell MTN News the 250 doses came from their initial shipments but the vials had more product in them, which allowed them to vaccinate more people in the 1A phase.
“Historically, they have an overfill and what that overfill allows for is a certain degree of waste when you’re drawing up the product. It also is in case some spills or there’s an issue, you have a little bit of additional vaccine in the vile,” explained Kallie Kujawa with Bozeman Health.
Bozeman Health reportedly has a little under 1,800 of their employees vaccinated with their first dose.
They will continue to vaccinate the additional emergency medical personnel until their supply runs out.
